Methodology

How we research French city-break guides.

Our Editorial Philosophy

A good city break depends on the city, the season, how many days you have and what you enjoy. We compare options using cited sources, then explain the tradeoffs.

How We Rank Options

Recommendations consider these criteria and explain their limits:

  1. 1

    Trip fit

Match the traveller, timing and the decision the guide addresses.

  2. 2

    Scope

Check what a ticket, pass or tour includes, including stated restrictions.

  3. 3

    Season and opening days

Distinguish published schedules from current live availability.

  4. 4

    Evidence

Cite factual claims and identify unsupported or uncertain details.

What We Don't Rank By

Understanding what we explicitly exclude matters for trust.

  • ✗Affiliate commission rates
  • ✗Paid placement
  • ✗Invented visits
  • ✗Unverified guarantees

Where Our Data Comes From

Our recommendations synthesize multiple signal types. We prioritize signals in this order:

  1. 1. Tourist offices, museums and venues

Official descriptions, opening times and seasonal announcements

  2. 2. Service providers

Direct descriptions of tours, passes and booking terms

  3. 3. Attributed reporting

Published context with an identifiable source and date

Handling Uncertainty

When a source doesn't confirm a detail, the guide says so and points you to the venue or operator page to check. We'd rather be clear about what is published than guess.
